International Day of Women and Girls in Science

International Women and Girls in Science Day is celebrated annually on February 11th, it's a dedicated to acknowledge the critical role women play in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This day serves to raise awareness of the gender disparities in these fields and to promote gender equality and empowerment for women and girls globally.

Science has long been male-dominated, but in recent years, there has been a concerted effort to break down gender barriers and create a more inclusive and diverse STEM community. Despite these efforts, women and girls are still underrepresented in STEM fields. Only 35% of the world's students enrolled in STEM fields are women.

Both genders have the potential to excel in the engineering field and make meaningful contributions to their workplace and the broader engineering community.

CodeCooperation, a rising Software development company, addresses these challenges and ensures a level playing field for all engineers. It is important for us to promote diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace and to provide equal opportunities for all engineers, regardless of their gender, to succeed and advance in their careers. By creating a supportive and inclusive work environment, we maximize the potential of ALL engineers.

“The thing is, I don’t see the difference between genders in CodeCooperation! At the end of the day, we are all engineers; who spend more than 8 hours a day together, working, coding, eating and chatting. “ says Nada, a software development engineer.

The topic of gender-equality and fairness in opportunities should never be just words we use on special occasions but, rather, should be implemented on a daily basis in organizations. CodeCooperation has been successful in doing this; with 50% of leadership positions being taken by women.

Sana, Full-Stack JS Developer engineer in CodeCooperation, adds:“ Knowledge wise, there is no difference between boys and girls in STEM. The problem is, in the IT field in general, there is no accurate representation of women in terms of numbers. To all the girls interested in following the engineering path, I encourage you! This career is very interesting, you develop passion for using technology and creativity to improve the world. Try it out, learn new skills, do not give up, even if there is no one supporting you.”

In conclusion, International Women and Girls in Science Day serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for gender equality in STEM fields, and the importance of empowering women and girls to pursue their passions and achieve their full potential, something that CodeCooperation is still working on. Let's continue to work together to create a more diverse and inclusive STEM community that values and celebrates the contributions of all individuals.
